Customs and Enterprises: Joint Efforts to Solve Difficulties
The first customs - business dialogue in 2009 has recently been held in Binh Duong province by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) - Ho Chi Minh City Branch, the Binh Duong Importers and Exporters Club and the Binh Duong Customs Department. The dialogue listened to complaints from enterprises and solved difficulties involving import - export procedures.
The conference attracted more than 400 enterprises and customs officers in charge of import - export activities in the province. Many complaints of enterprises were answered at the meeting by Binh Duong province’s Customs Department. The department will send questions that they do not have enough power to answer to higher authorities like the General Department of Customs and the Ministry of Finance.
The Binh Duong Department of Customs has held regular dialogues with local enterprises, which are attended by highest officials of the province.
According to statistics, in the first six months of 2009, the Binh Duong Department of Customs cleared customs procedures for 2,214 enterprises, a rise of 8.42 per cent, with 194,680 declaration forms. Local enterprises imported and exported US$5.521 billion worth of goods and services in the January-June period, down 12.25 per cent year on year. The budget collection by customs authorities exceeded VND1,492 billion in the six-month period, fulfilling 40.60 per cent of the plan.
