Vietnam President Pledges Effective Use of Japan ODA
President Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed Japan is among Vietnam’s leading important partners in economy, trade and investment and pledged the Southeast Asian country would use effectively the Japanese government-funded ODA sources.
Triet made his statement Oct 28 while receiving journalists from the Kyodo News Agency, who is visiting Hanoi to study the Vietnam-Japan relationship outlook particularly following the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) just took effect early Oct.
The VJEPA helps complete the legal framework for the bilateral ties, the Vietnam News Agency cited Triet as saying with Kyodo reporters.
President Triet applauded Yukio Administration’s move to increase official development assistance capitals for Vietnam in 2009 including a US$500 worth aid, committing to use the capitals most effectively.
During their stay in Hanoi, Kyodo journalists also worked with colleagues from the Vietnam News Agency on cooperative opportunities between the two news agencies. (News)
