Vietnam Nov CPI Up 0.55% On Month, Up 4.35% On Year: GSO

Vietnam's consumer price index in November is estimated to have risen 0.55% from a month earlier, fuelled by higher costs of food and foodstuff, housing and construction materials and transportation, the General Statistics Office said on November 25.
 
The CPI was up 4.35% from a year earlier, the statistics office said.
 
In Nov, prices of food and foodstuff rose 0.87% from a month earlier and were up 3.51% from a year earlier, costs of housing and construction materials were up 0.75% on month and up 8.4% on year.
 
Transportation costs rose 0.42% from a month earlier and 2.18% from a year ago, the GSO said.
 
Prices of apparel, footwear and hats rose by 0.32% on-month and surged 6.27% on year while prices of drinks and tobacco rose by 0.44% on-month and jumped 7.25% on-year, it added.
 
Medicines are estimated to have been up 0.09% on-month and up 3.16% on-year.
 
Cultural, sports and recreation services are estimated to be up 0.03% on-month and up 2.71% on-year. Domestic appliance prices are estimated to be up 0.22% on-month and 5.3% on-year.
 
The government usually issues CPI figures based on estimates before the end of the reporting period.
 
In Vietnam, gold is estimated to have gone up 10.08% on-month and up 49.88% on-year while the U.S. dollar weakened against the Vietnamese dong by 1.45% on-month, but strengthened 8.5% on-year.
 
In the first eleven months of the year, the CPI in urban areas in Vietnam rose 0.6% on-month and surged 5.25% on year while the index in rural regions up 0.51% on-month and 3.64% on-year. (GSO)
