The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has recently collaborated with the Overseas Vocational Training Association (OVTA) and the General Department of Vocational Training to organise a national seminar “on the cooperation of government and private sector in developing an effective skill evaluation system”.
At the seminar, Mr Nobuo Matsubara, a representative from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, introduced vocational skill systems in Japan, human resources development policies, and skill examination and certification processes. He also shared successes in vocational training in Japan.

Remarking on vocational training in Vietnam, Mr Dao Xuan Truong, Deputy Director for VCCI Membership Committee, said Vietnam currently has around 400,000 enterprises and approximately 400 vocational training establishments but most of them train on assignments from higher authorities, not based on real market needs, leading irrational and in effective training.

Mr Truong added, to improve occupational skills for workers in Vietnam, VCCI will gather detailed recommendations and proposals from companies and advise the Government on training, reviewing and certification of vocational training and developing market-based training. Besides, VCCI will organise seminars as well as training courses to facilitate business leaders to learn and improve their leadership skills, etc.
