Vietnamese Farm Produce Prices Soaring at Year’s End
Prices of Vietnamese farm produces have been soaring on high demand at year’s end, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
The ministry said that export prices of Vietnamese 5% broken rice rose to US$530-US$550/ton, up US$110-US$150/ton from the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile, export prices of rubber rose to US$2,200-US$2,400/ton, up nearly US$1,000/ton from early this year.
Pepper prices are averaging at US$3,200/ton at global market while at domestic market the commodity is offered at VND48,000/kg, profiting growers more than VND20,000/kg.
Prices of cashew nuts are US$4,700/ton, up US$30-US$50/ton on average from early 2009. (New Hanoi)
