90% of Vietnam Farm Produce Sold under Foreign Brands
As many as 90% of agricultural products produced in Vietnam are offered in world market under foreign trade brands, according to Le Hoang Minh, deputy president of Vietnam Farmer Association (VFA).
Minh said that many nationally famous agricultural products are still not popular in global market such as Thai Nguyen tea, Nam Roi pomelo, Trung Nguyen coffee, rice and others.
Among 173 local enterprises in agricultural sector, only 36 have registered their products nationally and 5 have registered internationally. Most of them are not interested to build brands, the statistics of the VFA showed.
The Vietnamese agricultural sector targets to export US$16 billion worth of agricultural, forestry and seafood products in 2010, up from US$15.4 billion a year earlier. (New Hanoi)
