Vietnam PM Approves Rural Trade Development Project till 2015
The Vietnamese Prime Minister gave the green light to the rural trade development project from now until 2015 with a vision for future developments through 2020.
Under the project approved Jan. 6, Vietnam aims to obtain a 22%-annual growth of retail sales and services revenue during the 2010-2015 period and a 20%-yearly growth in the 2016-2020 period.
The country targets to complete trade infrastructure zoning in rural areas in 2011 and operate farm produce wholesale markets in concentrated goods production areas in 2012.
Half of markets in bordering areas and border gate economic zones will be upgraded and 100% of district markets will be concreted in 2015.
Vietnam aims to complete upgrade and construction of new farm produce wholesale markets and markets in bordering areas and border gate economic zones by 2020.
Vietnam is estimated to need VND8 trillion (US$432.92 million) for building new farm produce wholesale markets, VND1.5 trillion for constructing 3,000 markets and VND1.8 trillion for upgrading and building 500 border markets by 2020. (The People)
