Vietnam Targets Footwear Exports of US$4.4B This Year
Vietnam is expected to export US$4.4 billion worth of footwear this year, up 10% from 2009, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported Tuesday.
The EU will continue to be the key market of footwear exports despite the extended anti-dumping duty of 10% for 15 more months which just took effects on Jan 3, Lefaso Chairman Nguyen Duc Thuan.
The EU market is expected to account for up to 50% of the sector’s total export turnover, followed by the U.S. with 30%, Thuan said.
Last year, Vietnam’s footwear industry earned US$4.02 billion from exports, down 15.8% against 2008 and failing to fulfill the whole-year target. (Youth, GSO)
