Vietnam Imports 9.63M Tons of Iron, Steel Valued at US$5.33B in 2009
Vietnam is estimated to have imported 9.63 million tons of iron and steel worth US$5.33 billion in 2009, up 13.8% in volume but down 22.9% in value from a year earlier.
In December, the country has spent US$480 million on importing 700,000 tons of iron and steel, down 3.03% and 15.15% on-month, respectively, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said.
Vietnam’s construction steel consumption is estimated to surge 30% to 5.3 million tons in 2009. (GSO)
