ASEAN ministers, who attended three ASEAN ministerial meetings in Vietnam’s central city of Danang on Jan 14, expressed their strong impression on the culture and hospitality of Thua Thien Hue province after paying a visit there on Jan 13.

“The culture of Hue is very special and diversified with two world heritage sites and many beautiful landscapes,” Thai Minister Kasit Piromya said on behalf of ASEAN ministers, adding that Hue is also the festival city of Vietnam.

The delegation visited many historical and tourist sites during the visit, including Hue Imperial City, the Vietnamese Government said on its website Jan 14, adding that the officials also met with representatives from Hue University and Hue Central Hospital and Hue Academy of Music.

Boasting a 128-km coastline with 22,000 lagoons, Hue is one of key economic hubs in central Vietnam, the provincial authorities said at the meeting with the ASEAN officials, noting that the province is giving more incentives to investors and businesses from the region.

The ASEAN countries have emerged as the fastest growing market for Vietnam’s tourism. The number of arrivals from ASEAN countries in Vietnam rose by 21% to 473,000 in the first half of last year. (chinhphu.vn))
