Japan Toymaker Opens Three More Factories in Vietnam
Takara Tomy, a Tokyo-based toy manufacturing company, opened three new factories in the Vietnam’s northern province of Haiphong on January 22, increasing the total number in the city to five.
The factories namely Vinh Chan 2 (FTV2), Well Power and Shun Lee have a total investment capital of US$10 million.
The first batch of products is expected to be finished in February and exported in Japan, U.S. and EU.
The Japanese company plans to move 30% of manufacturing foundations in China to Vietnam in the coming years.
In 2009, two Takara Tomy’s existing plants in the city posted their exports revenue of US$10 million.
Currently, the foreign company employs 4,000 local workers.
Now, 68 FDI projects of Japan with total investment of US$834 million are operating in Haiphong city.
The city has to date receive US$300 million from Japan’s ODA to invest in provincial key projects. (Investment, Vneconomy)
