U.S. SkyWorks Seeking Location for Plant in Vietnam

SkyWorks, the U.S. wireless handset chip supplier, is seeking a location for its plant in Vietnam, the Dau tu newspaper reported Monday.
 
The group is eyeing on Hoa Lac hi-tech park in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City hi-tech zone in Ho Chi Minh City and industrial parks in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
 
The plant, which manufactures chip for mobile phone, will cost between US$50 million and US$150 million in the first three years.
 
Big mobile phone firms including Nokia, LG, Samsung and Blackberry are customers of the SkyWorks.
 
Currently, SkyWorks has two factories in the U.S. and one in Mexico and expects to open more factories in other countries.
 
Most of SkyWorks’ products are expected to export and the rest will be sold for Samsung. (Investment)
