Vietnam Imports from U.K. +2.4% to $395.5M in 2009

Vietnam imported $395.5 million worth of goods from the U.K. last year, up 2.4% from a year earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said Tuesday.
 
The country’s imports from the U.K. surged 27.2% on-month and 123.2% on-year to $48 million in December.
 
Machinery and equipment, pharmaceuticals, chemical products and insecticide were Vietnam’s key imports with respective figures of $110.7 million, $49.6 million, $23.28 million and $13.88 million, up 41.3%, 99.2%, 27.5% and 1185.9% on-year, respectively.
 
Trade between Vietnam and the U.K. is expected to reach $3 billion in the next years from $1.9 billion in 2008. (Vinanet)
