The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance has issued a decision to exempt import tariffs for the Cau Treo border gate economic zone in Ha Tinh province in central Vietnam in the next five years.

Under the decision, materials, equipment and unfinished products imported for production and installation at the EZ will be exempted from taxes for the five years starting from March 1.

The aforementioned imports will be subject to tax payment after the five-year exemption.

In the first eleven months of 2009, the EZ exported US$40 million worth of goods to Laos, jumping 95% on-year. (Financial Times)
