HCM City Incurs US$2.7B Trade Deficit in Jan-Feb
Vietnam’s southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City reported a trade deficit of US$2.7 billion in the first two months of this year, the municipal Customs Office said without giving comparative figures.
The city exported US$3.6 billion worth of goods and imported US$6.3 billion of commodities during the period, the Sai gon Giai phong newspaper quoted the office as saying Thursday.
The office collected VND5.6 trillion export and import taxes in Jan-Feb, representing 12% of its full-year target.
Ho Chi Minh City targets to raise its export value by 12.7% from a year earlier to US$20.63 billion and limit its import growth at 12.5% or US$17.91 billion in 2010. (Liberated Saigon)
