Vietnamese People Most Interested in 3G Services
The number of Vietnamese people interested in the third-generation mobile technology (3G) soared in late 2009 and early 2010, making Vietnam a country with the greatest passion for 3G, according to Google Trends data.
The data showed that Vietnam is becoming a potential market for providers of network services, handset equipment and added-value services based on 3G technologies.
In 2009, Vietnam came second in searching for 3G on Google, behind China. Since 2004, the country ranked first in the world thanks to the high numbers of people who searched for the keyword 3G on Google in late 2009 and early 2010.
The increase of the people interested in 3G began in December 2009, when MobiFone launched 3G services and Viettel expanded its tests of 3G services to 17 provinces and cities.
The Google Trend data also showed that users searched the most for 3G services of VinaPhone, Viettel than MobiFone. VinaPhone is the first telecom firm rolling out 3G mobile services in Vietnam last October.
Vietnamese users also searched for 3G handheld equipment, especially iPhone 3G.
Viettel announced in February that it would launch 3G services March 15 to be the third provider in the country. (Vietnamnet)
