The industrial output of Danang city in central Vietnam is estimated to rise 37.5% from a year earlier to VND2.9 trillion in the first quarter, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Danang has targeted an on-year growth of 15% in industrial value this year, the ministry said without giving detail figures.

The city’s firms are facing rising production costs caused by the price hike of materials, fuels and the fluctuation of the U.S. dollar to Vietnam dong exchange rate, Nguyen Phi Anh, a local businesswoman was quoted as saying.

Last year the city’s industrial production output reached VND11.34 trillion, up 10.1% from 2008. (Trade & Industry)
