Vietnam Cashew Export Up 12.2% to US$158M in Q1

Vietnam raked in US$158 million from exporting 30,000 tons of cashew nuts in the first quarter of 2010, up 12.2% in value despite a decrease of 4.3% in volume from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office estimated.
 
The Southeast Asian country exported 10,000 tons valued at US$50 million in March, up from 7,000 tons worth US$36 million in February.
 
The General Customs Department said that the country exported 20,285 tons of nuts valued at US$107.22 million in the first two months, up 15.65% in value compared to the same period of last year.
 
The U.S., China and the Netherlands were the three biggest buyers with revenues of US$27.3 million; US$19.8 million and US$12.6 million, respectively. (Vinanet, GSO)
