Vietnam Dairy Product Imports Up 57% to US$157M in Q1

Vietnam imported US$157 million worth of dairy products in the first quarter of 2010, up 57% from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office estimated.
 
In Mar, the country imported $70 million worth of the products, sharply up from $41 million compared to previous month.
 
According to the Vietnam General Customs Department, the country spent $104.76 million on importing dairy products in the Jan-Feb period, up 65.7% from the same period of last year.
 
New Zealand was the major exporter of dairy products to Vietnam in first two months of this year with $26.29 million, up 116.7% on year.
 
Followings were the Netherlands and the U.S. with revenues of $23.83 million and $15.45 million, up 190.2% and 71.6%, respectively.
 
Other dairy products exporters to Vietnam included France, Australia, Thailand, Denmark, Spain, Poland, South Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines. (GSO)
