Samsung Targets Export Revenues of $1.5B in Vietnam This Year
Samsung Electronics Vietnam targets export revenues of $1.5 billion this year to top among foreign-invested firms in the country, said the company’s General Director Yoo Young Bok at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan on April 12.
Samsung has generated 720 jobs and attracted 15 satellite electronics component projects, Yoo added, noting that his company is the only firm in Yen Phong Industrial Park which provides accommodation for workers.
However, Samsung is facing a labor shortage to meet the set goal of producing three million mobile phones per month at present and six million from October, the general director highlighted.
Samsung Electronics Vietnam opened a $670-million mobile phone plant in Yen Phong Industrial Park last October. Up to 90% of the products will be exported, mainly to Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Africa markets. (chinhphu.vn, VoV)
