Vietnam Signs up 13.4M New Phone Users in Jan-Apr, Up 25.1% On-year: GSO

Vietnam licensed 13.4 million new phone subscribers in the first four months this year, an on-year rise of 25.1%, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
 
The figure included 12.6 million mobile phone subscribers, up 31.3% on year, while the number of land-line subscribers fell 27.3% on year to 815,000 due to low registration in the first quarter.
 
The new subscription brought the total number of mobile phone users in Vietnam to 123.9 million and landline ones to 19.9 million at end-April, up 61.4% and 30.4% from a year earlier, respectively.
 
Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) served 71.3 million clients, up 31.9% from a year ago.
 
By the end of April, the number of internet users nationwide rose 14.8% on year to 24.3 million, including 3.2 million broadband internet subscribers.
 
Net revenues of the post and telecom industry were estimated at VND35.2 trillion, rising 42.6% on year, including VND23.9 trillion made by the VNPT. (GSO April 2010)
