Improving ATM Service Quality
The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has issued Document No.3236/NHNN-TTGSNH dated May 4, 2010 on the service quality of ATMs to card payment service providers.
Accordingly, to ensure the quality of ATMs and limit public concerns that may adversely affect ATM-based payment service development, the SBV requires all card payment service providers to regularly examine and supervise operations of their ATMs and respond quickly to any problems arising. In case ATMs break down, service providers need to inform users of the nearest alternative ATM to perform transactions. Service providers are also required to check the quality of cash before filling ATMs. Besides, they need to enhance security for card payment by installing surveillance cameras or providing and encouraging SMS banking service for account balance checking, etc.
