Vietnam has more than 400,000 enterprises and 90% of which are managed and established by young entrepreneurs, said Professor Truong Gia Long, deputy editor-in-chief of the Party's Communist Review.

Young businesspeople have made great contributions to the country’s sci-tech development, and they need more support to develop new businesses, Long said at a conference held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the review on May 15.

At the event, entrepreneurs, scientists and experts proposed measures to boost the development of firms, particularly young businesspeople-led ones.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Planning and Investment Thai Van Re said the lack of market and product information as well as knowledge of economic policies is biggest barrier to young businesses.

Ho Chi Minh City now has over 137,000 enterprises; most of them run by young entrepreneurs. The local Young Businessmen Association has 738 members which create 87,000 jobs in the city and neighboring provinces. (vietnamplus.vn)
