Vietnam to Host 3rd Session of Vietnam–Japan Tourism Cooperative Commission
Vietnam will host the third session of the Vietnam–Japan Tourism Cooperative Commission this year, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, who is on a visit to Japan from May 18-22, said at a meeting with Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism Maehara.
Deputy PM Nhan asked the Japanese side to support and assist Vietnam in holding the event.
The two countries also plan to boost bilateral ties in the field of infrastructure during the talks.
Minister Maehara affirmed that Vietnam is Japan’s top strategic partner in Asia and the Japanese government has always given highest ODA to the country, especially in 2009 despites the global economic downturn.
Vietnam welcomed 146,818 Japanese tourists in the first four months of 2010, up 14.2% on year.
Both sides’ tourism agencies have signed an agreement to boost bilateral tourism cooperation, aiming to raise the number of Japanese arrivals to Vietnam from over 400,000 in 2007 to 600,000 by 2010. (
