Firms in HCM City IPs, EPZs Lack 37,000 Workers
Enterprises in Industrial Parks (IPs) and Export Processing Zones (EPZs) in Ho Chi Minh City are facing the lack of 37,000 workers, negatively affecting their production and business activities, said the city’s Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks Authority (HEPZA).
Textile and garment, footwear and seafood processing sectors suffer the most serious shortage, said Nguyen Tan Dinh from the HEPZA, attributing low salary level and bad working conditions to the situation.
Between January and March, the city granted business licenses to 6,000 domestic firms and 74 foreign ones.
Local firms will need to recruit 110,000 workers in the second quarter.
Ho Chi Minh City now has 4.7 million people of working age. Of them, more than 220,000 laborers are working at the city’s 14 export processing zones and industrial parks. (People’s Police)
