Vietnam Imports from Taiwan +17.8% to $2.1B in Jan-Apr
Vietnam spent $631.2 million on imports from Taiwan in April, up 20.6% on-year, raising the country’s total import value to $2.1 billion in the first four months, up 17.8%.
The country’s main imports were petroleum products worth $318.24 million, down 12.2%, apparel worth $270.12 million, up 7.4%, machinery and equipment worth $228.52 million, up 45.4% and metals worth $169.36 million, down 9.1%, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
Vietnam also exported $405 million worth of goods to Taiwan during the four-month period, resulting in the Southeast Asian nation’s trade gap of $1.695 billion.
In late February, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said the two-way trade stood at $7.37 billion in 2009, including Vietnam’s trade deficit of $5.13 billion. (Vinanet)
