Southeast Asia’s longest alpine roller coaster was put into operations at Dambri Ecological Tourism Site in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Lam Dong in late June at a cost of VND40 billion (US$2.1 million).

The 1,650-meter-long roller coaster is designed and installed by German manufacturer Wiegand GmbH. It consists of 48 two-seater cars that can travel at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

Passengers can enjoy a short ride of up to three minutes across the 57-meter-high Dambri Waterfall and nearby forest before reaching the Dasara Waterfall.

Unlike a normal roller coaster, alpine coasters look like a sledge on steel rails.

The coaster is the third of its kind in Vietnam after others at the Datanla Waterfall in Lam Dong and the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang. (Pioneer)
