VCCI, GDC Ink Cooperation Deal

The Centre for Commercial Documentary Verification under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Anti-Smuggling Inspection Agency under the General Department of Customs (GDC) signed an agreement on cooperation in detecting and preventing certificate of origin (C/O) fraudulence and trade frauds in general.

 

Mr Nguyen Xuan Thai, Deputy General Director of GDC, said: Many Vietnamese companies faked C/O or unlawfully applied for C/O. This bad behaviour only serves personal interests of some people but harms the economy, true businesses and export-oriented production in the country.

 

Therefore, the cooperation between VCCI and GDC will help tighten C/O granting and prevent making corrupt use of C/O to export goods to other nations. At the same time, this will improve working efficiency of the both sides, find out fraudulent acts related to C/O in particular and smuggling in general to protect domestic production and create a healthy business environment for enterprises.
