Vietnam, Bangladesh Boosting Investment, Trade Ties

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Bangladesh Embassy in Vietnam held a business forum in Hanoi June 3 to further boost the bilateral investment and trade relations.
 
The forum was organized on the occasion of the on-going visit of a Bangladesh business delegation led by President of the International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury.
 
The delegation, which comprises 32 enterprises operating in the fields of garments, steel, finance, banking, real estate, agriculture, food, cars, motorcycles and cold storage, will conclude its five-day on June 5.
 
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa called on businesses of the two countries to boost information exchange on investment and trade policies, trade promotion programs and the list of trade fairs to be held in each country.
 
Trade between Vietnam and Bangladesh soared 27% from a year earlier to US$82 million in 2009, including the Southeast Asian nation’s export value of US$60 million.
 
Cloth, electric cables, urea, footwear and garment accessories and tobacco were Vietnam’s export staples while its main imports were pharmaceuticals, cloth, machinery and equipment, electronic spare parts.
