Seminar on “Vietnam and Convention of International Sale of Goods”
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) plans to host a seminar on “Vietnam and Convention of International Sale of Goods” in Hanoi on May 11, 2010.
With 74 member countries, including top trade partners like the United States, France, Germany, Canada, Australia and Japan, the Convention of International Sale of Goods (CISG) regulates around two-thirds of global trade and is the most widely-applied trade convention. CISG is considered a successful example of the determination to unify contract law in the world, and negotiate in goodwill to create fair rules governing the rights and obligations of buying parties and selling parties.
To date, Vietnam has not joined CISG although domestic and international experts have repeatedly recommended it. Does Vietnam’s absence in CISG cause risks and trouble for Vietnamese companies in signing international sales contracts? The seminar directly focuses on importing and exporting affairs and legal advice for businesses. Interested companies can register to attend with Ms Lan Phuong or Thuy Dung at VCCI.
