VCCI Strives for Integrity, Transparency in Business Initiative

The Vietnam Business Office for Sustainable Development (SDforB) of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) recently held an introductory seminar on “Integrity and Transparency in Business Initiative for Vietnam” project in Ho Chi Minh City.
 
Outstanding attendants included Dr Doan Duy Khuong, Vice President of VCCI cum Head of the Project, Mr Nguyen Quang Vinh, Director of SDforB, Mr Le Quang Ha, Deputy Director of Anti-corruption Agency and Government Inspector, Mr Peter Connolly, British Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms Nguyen Thi Kieu Vien, Representative of Transparency International in Vietnam, Ms Tran Thi Thanh Ha, Lawyer of Baker & McKenzie (Vietnam).  
 
The event also drew the participation of nearly companies and business associations in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Binh Duong provinces.
 
Apart from introducing ITBI project, the meeting also aimed at exchanging and sharing information in damaging effects of corruption and bribery as well as benefits of participations in corruption prevention activities.
 
The gathering reaffirmed highly likely corruptive and bribed transactions and areas like tendering, purchase of public goods and services, licensing, borrowing, customs, taxation, land management and others.
 
According to the participants, the joint action of enterprises and the association and the cooperation between the authorities and enterprises are crucially important to nip corruption in the bud.
