On 24th February 2010, GCNV official organize the launch of Component 2 on: “Global Compact Network Vietnam - University Partnership for CSR Curriculum Development” funded by UNDP and in cooperation with Kenan Asia Institute to strengthen the sustainable development and competitiveness of the Asia region via implementing this education initiative to develop “responsible management” or CSR curriculum and training for future managers and business leaders in Vietnam.
Speech and discussion are presented by representative of the United Nation Development Program in Vietnam (UNDP), Vietnam Committee of Commerce and Industry, Kenan Asia Institute and University in Vietnam.
The GCNV put great emphasis on its capacity building activities, and is overseeing three components to further CSR in Vietnam: supporting multi-stakeholder partnerships which promote social and environmental change, establishing a network of companies, government and academic institutions, and NGOs to encourage innovative CSR approaches for Vietnam, and a CSR curriculum design and development project.
The project is formally titled “Embedding Corporate Social Responsibility in Vietnam through Research, Training and Curriculum Development (“Embedding CSR”),
This event aims to provide a brief overview of the desire and need for CSR education in Vietnam and introduce the university partners. It also takes this occasion to share information about the “co-production” process with university faculty to build CSR understanding, teaching and research capacity on CSR & sustainable development, and to introduce more about K.I.Asia’s role and methodology to build this partnership with Vietnamese universities, benchmark international curriculum, & together contextualize it for Vietnam.
The GCNV, launched in 2007, is a cutting edge initiative developed in partnership between the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (VCCI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project will produce the outcomes as the following concrete components:
Component 1: Corporate Social Responsibility promoted in Viet Nam through the local Global Compact network and policy advice;
Component 2: Corporate Social Responsibility embedded in Viet Nam through Research, Training ,Curriculum Development;
Component 3: Stakeholders engaged in partnerships within the GC to advance the MDGs in efficient and strategic ways.
