The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has joined hands with the Hanoi Business Association to hold a conference of the Vietnam Business Council Mar 9, the first of its kind in the country.

The two-day event attracting 500 businesses nationwide is aimed to discuss action programs of the council this year and the coming years.

At the conference, enterprises pledged to boost the use of locally-made products and to attend campaigns to encourage Vietnamese people’s use of the products.

The forum will also be an occasion for the associations to contribute their opinions to managing agencies and share experiences in equal competition with foreign businesses after Vietnam’s entry to the World Trade Organization.

Vietnam licensed around 13,000 enterprises in the first two months of this year, up 29% from a year earlier. Vietnam expects to have 540,000 licensed firms by late 2010.
