In 2009, within the framework of a National Project “Assisting enterprises in IT application to serve the country’s integration and development in the 2005-2010 period” (or Project 191), 54 conferences and forums of national, regional and locality-level were held with the participation of nearly 10,000 firms. More than 100 training courses for corporate cadres were also organised and 34 model enterprises were set up nationwide.
The information was announced at a meeting of the guiding board of Project 191 held recently in Hanoi. The meting aims to review and assess activities of the project last year and operations orientations in the coming time.
Le Van Loi, Head of The Institute of Information Technology for Business under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the deputy head of the project, said the project has cooperated with localities in conducting surveys on IT application at 5,000 enterprises in provinces and building the index of business IT application 2009.
Representatives from several departments of information and communications of localities which participate in the project said the project help improve IT application in local businesses. Through the project’s activities, companies have made positive changes in their awareness of IT benefits, contributing to IT training in companies and the selection of suitable IT solutions.
The project has also helped state management agencies in localities use IT for effective implementation of its activities, making great contribution to the national IT development programmes.
Reviewing the implementation of the project, a representative from Bac Giang province’s Department of Information and Communications said, the project has many positive changes, meeting the province’s real demand. However, many localities in the province still face difficulties in carrying out it because most of people involved in the project are still young. Therefore, the persuasion and mobilisation remain difficult.
Loi said, this year, the project will join hands with the Department of Information and Communications of more than 30 provinces for wider implementation, focusing on activities to raise companies’ IT recognition as well as building model businesses in IT application. It is also necessary to build websites for firms and e-commerce transaction floors for localities.
