The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) made debut on December 30 the Vietnam Shippers Council (VNSC).

The move is aimed to protect the legal rights and benefits of Vietnamese businesses in import-exporting related issues, Vu Tien Loc chairman of the VCCI said.

He also stressed the necessity of the council for expanding Vietnam’s economic market, adding that the council will facilitate import-export activities and help businesses expand their operations.

The VNSC will focus on improving the competitive capacity of domestic firms and increasing links with foreign shipping lines.

The council will provide its members with the necessary information and meet and discuss with local and foreign shipping lines to protect its members from monopolies and unreasonable costs.

The association will coordinate with similar associations in neighboring countries and take part in the regional and international federation of shippers councils, which will help to integrate the country into the global shippers network.

So far, as many as 120 firms and business associations have registered to join in the VNSC.
