The current development of Vietnam is undeniably contributed by businesswomen, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung affirmed to nearly 500 businesswomen at the Vietnam Business Forum in Hanoi on March 6. “They are peacetime heroines.”
Activities of women entrepreneurs are not only bound to the national territory but also expanded to the international arena, thus glorifying the image of Vietnamese women.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the Vietnamese entrepreneur community needs to promote patriotism, solidarity and willpower in business; and be ready to confront any challenge to grow, assert the position, trademark; thus, contributing to the national economy.
Side by side with businesswomen
Ms Tran Thi Thuy, Chairperson of Women Entrepreneur Council - VCCI, affirmed that the council will organise courses to improve the competing and managerial skills for businesswomen while helping them access and survey their potential foreign markets.
Ms Victoria Kwakwa, Country Director of the World Bank for Vietnam, said: “Female entrepreneurs currently account for a third of more than 350,000 businesspeople in the country.”
Women are now mainly running small and medium-sized enterprises; thus, their resilience to the past economic crisis was quite weak. So, the post-crisis cooperation of women entrepreneurs is very important.
At the forum, Dr. Vu Tien Loc, President of VCCI, confirmed that the saviour of the world economy is women who are more excellent in business, more economical and more resistant than men and these are very important virtues for businesspeople to hone in and develop.
In the current context, women are struggling to ride out difficulties during the international integration process.
Women-led businesses are mostly small and medium sized, even very small, operating in the fields of trade, service, manufacturing and consumer goods production.
These are crucial fields of Vietnam’s economy as they create many jobs, and contribute to poverty reduction, and agricultural and rural development but they are most vulnerable in the integration process.
