Vietnam Gov’t Approves Planning for Southern EZ
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has recently approved a construction planning for a border gate economic zone (EZ) in the southern province of Dong Thap.
Under the plan, Dong Thap border gate EZ will cover a total area of 31,936 ha in the two districts of Hong Ngu and Tan Hong and two international border gates namely Thuong Phuoc and Dinh Ba.
It will be developed into a multi-sector EZ, including projects in industrial production, trade, tourism, urban areas agro-forestry-fishery.
The zone is expected to boost economic cooperation between Dong Thap and the sub-Mekong nations, particularly Cambodia.
Vietnam now has 30 border gate EZs in 15 cities and provinces. The country plans to build 30 new border gate EZs by 2020, raising its total export – import commodity and service turnover via borders with neighboring countries to $42 billion-$43 billion by then. (chinhphu.vn)
