Vietnam Agro, Forestry, Seafood Product Exports Hit Over US$10B in Jan-July

Vietnam is estimated to have exported US$10 billion worth of agricultural, forestry and seafood products in the first seven months of 2010, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said.
 
In July, the country exported US$1.642 billion worth of the products, the office added.
 
Seafood was the largest export staples in the Jan-Jul period with total revenues of US$2.442 billion, up 11.2% on year.
 
Following was rice that Vietnam earned more than US$2 billion from exporting 4.1 million tons, up 3.4% on-year in value despite a decrease of 2.5% in volume.
 
Other major exports were timber and woodwork with US$1.792 billion, up 33.5% on-year; and coffee with US$1 billion, down 10.4%, the GSO said.
 
Meanwhile, exports of rubber brought in US$893 million up 85.1% and cashew nuts; US$542 million, up 25.3% on-year.
 
Om the Jan-Jul period, Vietnam also exported US$337 million worth of cassava products, down 12.4%; US$262 million fruits and vegetables, up 6.9%; and US$274 million pepper, up 40.9% from a year earlier, the office added. (GSO July Edition)
