Companies from the Philippines have to date invested $308.97 million in Vietnam so far, ranking the fourth among ASEAN investors in the country, the Dau tu newspaper reported Wednesday, citing Ambassador Jerril G.Santos.

Jerril G.Santos highly appraised Vietnam’s investment environment and its incentives for foreign firms, including the Phipplipines, hoping that more Filipino companies will boost investments next years.

The ambassador also encouraged Vietnamese enterprises to invest in the areas of agriculture, forestry, seafood, foodstuff, restaurants, services, tourism, creative industry and research.

As of May 18, companies from ASEAN countries invested over $60 billion in Vietnam. Malaysia took the lead with 351 projects totaling $17.98 billion, followed by Singapore with 808 projects valued at $17.73 billion.

Vietnam expects to attract more foreign investments once the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement takes effect on August this year.

More capitals will be flown into Vietnam as the deal will facilitate non-ASEAN investors to do business in the country, said an official from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. (Investment)
