Vietnam's Exports to Africa Likely to Exceed US$3 Billion
Vietnam's export turnover to Africa reached US$1.69 billion in the first six months of 2011, a year-on-year increase of 117 percent and nearly as much as the whole of last year’s total export turnover to the continent (US$1.79 billion), reported the General Department of Customs.
Ten markets witnessing sharp rises in export turnover include South Africa at US$835 million, up 303 percent, Senegal (US$143 million/up 575 percent), Egypt (US$89.7 million/up 11 percent), Cameroon (US$67.1 million/up 271 percent), Algeria (US$58.5 million/up 52 percent), Ivory Coast (US$57 million/up 40 percent) and Ghana (US$53.6 million/up 19 percent). On the contrary, some important markets saw a decrease in export turnover in the first six months of this year, including Angola, Nigeria and Tanzania.
