To form a contingent of high-quality human resources that satisfies the development requirements of the province, especially in the period of international economic integration, Quang Ngai province has been implementing many breakthrough solutions to improve the quality of education and training. In particular, building up national-standard schools is considered one of major tasks of provincial education and training sector.
A breakthrough
The school year 2011-2012 has seen many successes of education and training sector of Quang Ngai. The brightest point is that the system of schools and classes has been gradually improved. By now, the province has 206 kindergartens, 218 primary schools, 165 secondary schools, 15 various-level schools (with the highest level of secondary education), 39 high schools, 13 centres for continuing studies and job orientation. Schools and classes are situated all over the province, meeting the education requirements of school-age people in various forms, both regular and continuing studies.
The term of “Friendly school, Active students” is thoroughly grasped not only by educational units, but also by the whole society. Provincial educational units have formed a friendly academic environment that attracts students, and creates trust among society when people bring their children to schools. Inspection and assessment of students’ performances are better conducted in schools. This is one of the measures to correctly assess student performance, as well as to restore order and discipline in education, which has contributed largely to limiting negative activities in the sector.
Leader in building national standard schools
At the end of school year 2011-2012, Quang Ngai province has 23 out of 206 kindergartens that meet national standards. The province has 121 primary schools, 73 secondary schools, 13 high schools meeting national standards. Quang Ngai is a province having the highest rate of national standard schools, especially high schools.
By now, many schools in the province have developed standard library, disciplined classrooms, traditional rooms, toilets, garages, playgrounds, areas for physical education and have exploited them effectively. Many districts possess a large number of national standard schools. Schools are enhancing the teaching of computer science, applying information technology in teaching, organising competitions of good teachers, and modernizing teaching methods. In particular, schools in Quang Ngai province are pushing up the education socialization; mobilizing every resource to enhance facilities, equipment; coordinating effectively with families and society to create a thorough education for students, prevent crime and drug abuse, and ensure academic achievement, traffic order and security.
Thanks to uniform direction and favourable conditions created by local committees of the Party, authorities and organisations, many schools have overcome difficulties to become typical and advanced units in the movements “Good teaching, good learning”, “Friendly schools, active students”, and “Building up national standard schools”.
Besides building up national standard schools, Quang Ngai province has also cared for and granted gifts and scholarships for poor students in mountainous districts and islands such as Minh Long, Ba To, Tra Bong, Son Tay, Son Tra, Son Ha, Ly Son. Regarding to strategic targets in the future, Mr Thai Van Dong, Director of Education and Training Department, said that Quang Ngai province is striving to have 50 percent of kindergartens, 70 percent of primary schools, 70 percent of high schools meet national standards, as well as to become a province with both economic and educational development of the central region and of the country.
