Fully understanding that transport is an important basis to promote social-economic development, Quang Ngai has always actively taken advantages of all resources to better the local transport network.
Quang Ngai is a coastal province in the Central Region Key Economic Zone with a geographical location and natural conditions favourable for developing roads, railway and airline transport to other regions and areas across the country. Apart from 2 core routes of Highway 24 and the road Dung Quat – Tra Bong – Tra My connecting Quang Ngai with Central Highland provinces, Laos Southern area and Northeast Thailand, Quang Ngai has strong development potential in marine transport combined with marine ecotourism, with over 130 kilometres of coast, Dung Quat deep water port and Ly Son Island district, which is near Chu Lai airport, and a part of North – South railway running along the province, which, in the combination with the development of road transport network, will be very convenient for connection among economic parks, industrial zones and urban areas with neighbouring provinces.

Director of Transport Department Dang Van Minh said that Quang Ngai transport sector has always been aware that transport infrastructure plays an important role in social-economic development as a factor with much influence on competitiveness of the province as well as the country to attract investment, promote commerce tourism and other services. Thus, construction of transport infrastructure should be given the priority to go ahead at quick and sustainable pace. From this orientation, for the past year, Quang Ngai road transport network has been planned, paid much attention and prioritized with resource allocation by Provincial People Committee. Large transport works which are completed, put in use and operate effectively include: Tra Bong – Tra Phong, Di Lang – Tra Trung, Thach Phu – Pho An, Long Mon – Son Ky roads, Cong Hoa, Hai Gia bridges, Dung Quat Economic Park transport network, provincial industrial zones and urban areas. Besides, the completion of Song Truong –Tra Bong – Binh Long – Dung Quat, the bypass on Highway 1A in the section through Duc Pho town, Highway 24, Dung Quat – Sa Huynh coastal road (Phase 1) helps to complete Quang Ngai transport network. So far, the province has had 572 km provincial road, 683.6 km district road and 783 km commune road spread asphalt and lined.

Convenient transport and stable political and security have brought about many opportunities for economic sectors so that all Quang Ngai residents have the chance for success in their hometown. Not only enterprises and urban and rural residents, but also hamlets in remote mountainous districts benefit from better infrastructure and transport networks, with concrete roads and suspension bridges. Given the connected transport network, the distance between the mountainous and plain areas has been narrowed.

Since it is determined that transport is the breakthrough in investment attraction, and national defence and security insurance; and it should go ahead for social – economic development, in coming time, Quang Ngai transport sector will continue to focus on making breakthrough in construction of infrastructure, especially that of transport; mobilizing all resources to invest and enlarge many provincial roads. Transport network will be built in the direction of comprehension and high connection level based on regions in the province, provinces in the Central Region Key Economic Zone and Central Highland area. At the same time, the sector will also upgrade, build up provincial roads connecting districts and to the neighbouring provinces’ districts, complete and improve transport network in the modern and comprehensive direction. In addition, the whole sector will proceed to construct key transport works of important meaning to promote social-economic development, guarantee national defence and security, joining national industrialization and modernization.
