Ninh Kieu - White Rice and Pure Water

With the role of the city’s economic hub, Ninh Kieu’s economy has continuously developed in recent years. Its speed of economic development was 14.87 percents in 2004 and has risen more than 16.8 percentage points in 2008. Its economic structure has gradually moved to the direction of service- commerce and small-scale industry. The value of the service- commerce branch was 50.34 percents in 2004 and counted for 42.04 percent in 2008. Budget income project of annual average has reached its target. The budget income gained VND 315,062 millions , counted for 116.26 percents of the target that the city delivered and increased 126,824 millions VND in comparison with 2004. In the coming five years, the total capital that is invested in the district- managed capital construction will gain over 674,434 million VND and will be used to build 93 projects of technical infrastructure.

This is the most important thing to expose the breakthroughs. Based on its location, Ninh Kieu has grasped the advantages and potentialities such as: it develops service-commerce, tourism and applies this structure as the direction and objective for its development. Besides, it also continues to hasten further trade promotion activities, extend more domestic and export markets. In addition, it combines central and city branches to build supermarkets, commercial centers at the regional level, establish the biggest supplying market of goods like fruits, aquatic products … together with fortifying and speeding up the market network in this area in an effort to form the spring-board to develop activities of service and commerce.

 

Tourism has played an important role in its socio-economic development through the years. Consequently, the districts are interested in this field and have created good conditions due to many economic sectors wanting to join in investment to develop service- tourism in this area. For this reason, it will continue to highly promote its internal force at the same time taking advantage of exterior forces to mobilize and effectively use all sources of capital that are invested for development according to the given/set goals such as: administrative formality improvement, government agency management aimed at creating a fresh environment as well as building incentives, assistant policy of capital and technique to make enterprises feel secure about their investment so that they can develop in the right direction and attain high effects in production and business.

 

Ninh Kieu is combining with Can Tho’s University and local professional vocational schools in training to improve human resources. On the other hand, it also executes all the party's and state’s preferential policies to call upon the best experts who specialize in some fields of which the district is lacking.
