Hai Phong City Applying Japanese Water Treatment Technology
In recent years, the Vietnam - Japan friendly relationship has become more and more intimate. In their collaboration among enterprises, there are some spotlights rising from transferring technological innovation and supporting finance for projects in Vietnam. For example, Japanese water treatment technology is applied in Vinh Bao Water Production Enterprise in Vinh Bao district of Hai Phong city, invested by Hai Phong Water Supply Company.
The Biological Contact Filter work (U-BCF) with capacity of 5,000 cubic metres per day was constructed by Japanese technology and obtained help from Department of Water Supply and Treatment of Kitakyushu. This is the first time that Japanese technology is applied in Hai Phong Water Supply Company to treat contaminated organic matters in water, till now, the work is operated effectively. The work with an estimation of total investment of VND12 billion was 100 percent financed by Hai Phong Water Supply Company, and technology was transferred from the Department of Water Supply and Treatment of Kitakyushu. However, in order to reduce cost, the investor had a good idea of not importing 100 percent of equipment from Japan, but maximising domestic equipment to reduce nearly 40 percent of total cost together with ensured quality and work efficiency, reducing the investment to VND8.7 billion.
The completed and being operated work satisfies water needs in Vinh Bao district, marking progression of Hai Phong Water Supply Company in applying and controlling advanced technology, which is environment -friendly, improving operational efficiency of water treatment work, and enhancing cleaned water for citizens and responding to increasingly contaminated water in industrialisation and modernisation processes for developing economy.
The successful application of Biological Contact Filter work (U-BCF) in Vinh Bao Water Production Enterprise symbolises the success in cooperation relationship among Hai Phong Water Supply Company and Department of Water Supply and Treatment of Kitakyushu in particular, as well as friendly relationship between Japan and Vietnam in general.
Recently, Japanese enterprises prioritise investment in processing, producing segments in small and medium enterprises with advantages of human resources and techniques. In the near future, Japanese enterprises will expand investment into high technology sectors. All these facts have proved that a range of solutions to dissolve problems and difficulties for SMEs are effective, programmes and activities to promote investment and introduce investment environment in Vietnam are in the right direction.
