Vietnam - Japan Trade and Construction Joint Stock Company (CONINCO-VJ) is the official distributor of high-end construction materials imported from Japan. Vietnam Business Forum interviewed Director Mr Nguyen Tu Trong to learn more about the company's operations, as well as the potential for cooperation with Japanese partners. Minh Xuan reports.
Can you tell us some results of recent cooperation between CONINCO-VJ and its Japanese partners?
In recent years, CONINCO has continued to develop and cooperate with major corporations around the world in major projects as well as support, develop and promote trade for foreign partners. The establishment of CONINCO Vietnam - Japan Trade and Construction Joint Stock Company and Fire Protection Product Showroom of Yamato Protec is an inevitable consequence.
The company operates mainly in providing interior materials originally imported from Japan such as lining paper, lining fabric, carpet, PVC flooring, dedicated floor for hospital, curtain, glass film, Reatec material and constructing, installing interior finishing work.
Freshly coming into operation in July 2013, CONINCO-VJ has soon proven itself decorating interior for T1 terminal, Noi Bai Airport and many other major projects. Fire protection products distributed by the company are also approaching customers and receiving good responses.
How do you see the potential of cooperation with Japanese partners, and what is the key to good cooperation?
With over 40 years of friendly relations between Vietnam and Japan, especially now when the two countries has become strategic partners, CONINCO-VJ has always appreciated the cooperation potential with Japanese partners.
Over recent years, CONINCO-VJ has maintained a certain level of cooperation with Japanese partners. In my opinion, to have a good cooperation with them, key factor lies in the people. Vietnamese businesses need to build a professional style and high prestige. The Japanese rarely answer Yes or No in negotiations, and they evaluate their partners through a process, so we need to get prepared and be sure to show our goodwill in cooperation. Once mutual trust is built, the Japanese will highly appreciate the cooperation.
Currently, CONINCO-VJ is facilitating cooperation with Sekisui Chemical Group to further strengthen the company’s operations.
On the occasion of the official visit of Vietnam’s delegation of senior leaders to Japan, what do you want to convey to Japanese businesses and partners?
CONINCO-VJ is very proud to contribute, even a small part, to building the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Japan. We always have the warmest welcome for Japanese in general and especially Japanese investors. We hope that Japanese enterprises who yet to know Vietnam will have a visit and truly experience our country so that the two countries can be closer as friends. Since becoming strategic partners, the Vietnamese government has introduced some open policies to welcome enterprises from Japan. In time to come, to further promote and strengthen cooperation and for Vietnam to truly become an attractive business destination, we hope that the government will soon have more open policies to welcome Japanese investors.
