"Vietnam Supporting Industries Forum #9" with the theme of “Boost Up Supporting Industries! – The Focus Area for Success” will be co-organized by Reed Tradex Co., Ltd, the organizer of Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2014 and Hanoi Industry & Department Trade Promotion Center (HTPC) at 13.30 – 16.00 on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Melia Hanoi Hotel, Hanoi.
 
Dr. Vu Tien Loc, President Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will be the keynote speaker to share information about update trends and situation of supporting industries development in Vietnam and the needs of government support to building up the value chain of key industries to retain and boost up the foreign investors.
 
This forum will offer visions, best practices and experiences by government and private sectors. Mr.Duangdej Yuaikwamdee, Deputy Managing Director of Reed Tradex said that
according to customs statistics, exports of machines, equipment, tools, spare parts of Vietnam in January 2014 was US$529.01 million, up 15.61 % compared with the same period last year. Japan was a leading export destination of Vietnam machinery, equipment and spare parts, valued at 111.99 million, up 4.54 % compared to the same period last year. The United States is the second largest market, worth $98.77 million, up 40.32 %. Third place is the Hong Kong market, worth $ 31.21 million, up 30.9 % compared to the same period last year. These three markets accounted for 45.7 % of total exports.
 
It means that Vietnam’s industrial sectors are on rise, in order to support sustainable growth and keep the momentum of increasing the foreign investments in various, Vietnam needs to reorganize the industrial system and boost up the supporting Industries to cover the industries’ values chain.

More investment projects are pouring into Vietnam, business opportunities continue flowing towards manufacturers in the supporting sectors. Their needs for better technology and know-how will increase.
 
In Vietnam, supporting industries for motorcycle manufacturing gain the biggest success. The presence of assemblers like Honda has lured component suppliers to come to Vietnam to set up shop with no need for any supporting policy from the Government. Additionally, the country’s target that from now to 2020, Vietnam would focus on developing the supporting industries for five sectors automobile, electronics & information technology, mechanical engineering textile & garment and shoes manufacturing.
