11 Key Events in National Tourism Year 2015

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently issued the Decision No. 2111/QD-BVHTTDL to start the National Tourism Year 2015. The tourism year will feature 11 major events, including six held by central authorities led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and five hosted by Thanh Hoa province.
 
Six events held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism include the World Heritage Festival; Exhibition on propaganda posters for major national holidays in 2015 and the 50th anniversary of Ham Rong Victory; national and international sporting events; Northern Folk Song Festival; and World Heritage Connection Journey. Five events hosted by Thanh Hoa province consist of the opening and closing ceremonies; the celebration of 50th anniversary of Ham Rong Victory; International Stone Sculpture Camp; and Sea Tourism Festival.
 
 
In addition, other provinces and cities with world heritages across the country will organise events in response to the National Tourism Year 2015, like Hung Temple Festival 2015 (Phu Tho province); the 5th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Thang Long Imperial Citadel as the World Culture Heritage and Co Loa Temple Festival (Hanoi City); Halong Carnival 2015 and Yen Tu Temple Festival (Quang Ninh province); the 120th founding anniversary of Bac Giang province and Vinh Nghiem Pagoda Festival (Bac Giang province); Return to Quan Ho Singing Land (Bac Ninh province); Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Festival and Thanh Quy Dai Vuong Temple Festival (Ninh Binh province); third Vi Dam Folk Singing Festival 2015 (Nghe An province); the celebration of 250th birthday of Great Poet Nguyen Du (Ha Tinh province); Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2015 (Thua Thien Hue province); Danang International Firework Contest 2015 (Danang City); Quang Nam Festival - Heritage Itinerary (Quang Nam province); Highland Gong Festival (Gia Lai province); Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Day (Ho Chi Minh City); and Da Lat Flower Festival 2015 (Lam Dong).
 
The National Tourism Year 2015 - Thanh Hoa aims to promote tourism and build destination brands to attract tourists to Thanh Hoa province and the region in 2015 and beyond; raise awareness of authorities and the public in tourism development in association with heritage value conservation and promotion; develop heritage-based tourism into locally unique tourism products. The programme also aims to build and uphold the image of tourism of Vietnam in general and Thanh Hoa province in particular and strengthen local tourism connectivity.
