PM Receives French Parliamentarian
PM Nguyen Tan Dung received President of the French National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee Elisabeth Guigou in Ha Noi on December 16.
PM Dung lauded the French guest’s visit and outcomes of the delegation’s meetings as contributing to enhancing bilateral relations, particularly those between the legislative bodies of both countries.
PM Dung affirmed that Viet Nam wants to promote and deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries in all aspects practically and effectively for interests of both sides.
He spoke highly of France’s role as the host of the 21st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21) and asked France to continue supporting Viet Nam in realizing the conference’s commitments.
He also urged the French legislature to accelerate the ratification of the Viet Nam– EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and the signing of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
Elisabeth Guigou noted that bilateral ties have a firm political and historical foundation and see ongoing sound developments, saying that the French President highly valued Viet Nam’s contributions to the COP 21 and he wants to make a visit to Viet Nam next year.
She affirmed that the French NA strongly supports the enhancing of EU-Viet Nam relations and the French Senate will officially consider the PCA on December 17 for early ratification at the beginning of 2016.
Guigou also said France has closely followed the situation in the East Sea and stressed France’s stance on respecting and abiding by international law, ensuring peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea and the region.
