Vietnam, Australia Share Common Voices on Regional Issues
Vietnam and Australia have similar viewpoints on regional and international issues, said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Mr Phuc made the point on Monday in Ha Noi at a reception for outgoing Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Hugh Borrowman.
The host leader congratulated Ambassador Hugh Borrowman for his successful term in Vietnam and praised the contributions of the diplomat to the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Australia.
The bilateral ties have made great leap forward in all fields. He also expressed his impression on the largest number of Vietnamese students hosted by Australia (around 30,000).
PM phuc hoped that the two countries would promote people-to-people exchange and took the occasion to seek Australia’s support for Vietnamese agro-fishery products to penetrate Australian market.
“There are wide doors for labour cooperation,” said PM Phuc, adding that the two countries should shake tighter hands to boost the cooperation.
For his part, Mr Hugh Borrowman expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Government during his term in Vietnam. He believed that the bilateral ties would flourish in coming time, especially in economics, trade, and people diplomacy.
The diplomat revealed that Cao Lanh cable-stayed bridge that spans the Tien (Anterieur Mekong) River and links Cao Lanh District, Cao Lanh City and Lap Vo District in Dong Thap Province will be opened to traffic next year ahead of schedule. This was the largest ODA project of Australia in the Southeast Asian region and a hallmark in the bilateral cooperation.
Vietnam is one of the big fruit exporters in Australia, said the Ambassador. Vietnamese agro-products such as mango and litchis are available in Australia, he said, expressing his hope that Vietnamese blue dragon will be present in Australia soon.
The diplomat pledged to spare no effort to nurture the bilateral ties after accomplishing his ten-year term in Vietnam.
