Haiphong Harbour View Hotel: Actively Contributing to City's Development
Newly established in 1998 and favorably located near the Haiphong Port, Harbour View Hotel is furnished with modern equipment and facilities.
Harbour View Hotel is a joint venture between Vietnam, Thailand, Belgium and France. At the beginning, it had to face many difficulties due to the Asian financial crisis. However, in recent years, along with changes in business situation and policies, the hotel has seen some remarkable achievements. The volume of customers Harbour View Hotel received in 2004 was 35,000 people, leading to a total revenue of USUS$2.5 million.
Harbour View is still the only international hotel in Haiphong. With a total of 120 guest rooms with modern amenities, colonial architecture and décor and a wide range of international standard services and facilities, Harbour View is the only choice for anyone looking for high standard accommodation. The secret of its success also lies in the friendliness and serious-working attitude of the hotel staff, which has laid a positive impression on visitors during their stay.
In spite of existing problems such as the lack of clear policies and an increase in tax and electricity, Harbour View Hotel still has a great potential to develop. People are impressed by Haiphong’s rich past against colonial oppression and its strategic location. Being the center of three famous tourist destinations - Hanoi, Hoa Lu - Ninh Binh and Halong Bay, Haiphong has the ability to attract more tourists. Moreover, the establishment of 2 industrial zones Dinh Vu and Nomura has helped to increase the number of businesspeople in Haiphong.
According to Mr. Luechinger - General Director the most important task now is to change people’s acceptance and knowledge about a dirty and uncivilized port city and to maintain the city's natural beauty. In 2005, under plans for development, Harbour View Hotel intends to renovate its rooms, restaurant and function rooms. Mr. Luechinger has made it clear that "Demands from guests change, that's why we have to change. We have to follow what guests want". 2005 is being looked upon as an opportunity to boost the hotel’s performance in particular and Haiphong's development as well.
